pumpkin, kumara, custard etc..
I've been making up purees for him. Some are just plain, and some I get
inspired from Annabel Karmels baby food books.
I made up a batch of mince, apple and kumara puree, which is recommended
by the beef and lamb board as a great baby food to get iron into your
baby.
Bevan isn't that keen on meaty baby foods, and he doesn't really like
this one much either, and he gags and screws up his face. But a trick
I've been using is to put just a wee bit on his spoon and let him hold
the spoon. He loves shoving the spoon in his mouth if he is holding it.
It is a slow process but quite successful.
He can put away almost half a cup of food at one of each of his two
solids meals a day.
Bevan has also been trying some fingerfoods. He has slobbered on a
couple of gingernuts and cruskits. He doesn't have his pincer grasp yet
though to pick up little things to eat.
